Colusa teenager injured in single vehicle crash
A Colusa teenager was seriously injured around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Estevan E. Vargas, 19, remained hospitalized on Tuesday at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, where he was listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The CHP said Vargas was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry northbound on State Route 45 in Glenn County, just south of County Road 56, when his vehicle drifted to the right, ran off the road and collided with a walnut tree, the CHP said. His speed was undetermined.
Vargas was wearing a seat belt and the airbag deployed, CHP Officer Joe O. Stokes said.
Vargas was able to get out of the vehicle before rescue personnel arrived.
He was taken to Enloe with major injuries.
