First Arbuckle Almond Fun Run a success
Nearly 100 runners participated in the first annual Arbuckle Almond Fun Run on Saturday, which included three different race lengths, 1-mile, 5K and 10K.
Jackie Corona was the overall champion in the mile race with a time of 6 minutes, 38 seconds, David Schertzer won the 5K with a time of 19:06 and Ron Rector won the 10K in 41:14.
In the 14-under age group, Mary O'Sullivan and Mitchell Kley won the mile, Francis Rodriguez and Bryce Alonso won the 5K and Alonso Navarro won the 10K.
For the 15-19 age group, Jackie Corona won the mile, Kassidy Kuykendall and Ivan Rodriguez won the 5K and Ramiro Navarro won the 10K.
In the 20-40 age group, Shelly Murphy and Allen Shelley won mile, Karina Perez and David Schertzer won the 5K, and Alexa Andreasen and Juan Gomez won the 10K.
For the 41-over age group, Tanya Terwilliger won the mile, Annie French and Hal Tacker won the 5K, and Toni Rivera and Ron Rector won the 10K.
All the participants went home with locally grown almonds donated by the Brent and Sharon Wiggin family, Blue Diamond Almonds and rice donated by Sun Valley Rice. Alsco Geyer/Ace Hardware donated water.
The Fun Run Committee, Pierce High cheerleaders and other volunteers helped make the event happen.
