Letter: Disbanding of concert group concerning
I was very sad to receive word last week that the Tri County Concert Association would not be presenting a concert season this year and was, in fact, disbanding their organization.
After so many years of providing quality musical performances for the Yuba-Sutter (and Colusa) areas, it is such a tragedy to see them disappear due to lack of support.
I hope that the people in this area realize how important it is to maintain our arts organizations. We have wonderful groups in our communitiy, such as the Yuba Sutter Master Chorale, the Yuba Sutter Oratorio Society, the Yuba Sutter Symphony, The Acting Company, and the Veridian Symphony Orchestra, just to name a few, who provide excellent musical and theatrical performances.
While I love sports and enjoy a good ball game, I feel it is important that we have a variety of local entertainment choices available. What these groups offer enrich our community so very much and they need to be supported, both through financial contributions and by attending their performances.
I implore you to visit their websites, read the newspaper, and/or contact their members to find information about upcoming performances. You can also stay informed about, and support, what's going on in the arts community by becoming a member of the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council.
Let's keep the arts alive in the Yuba-Sutter area.
