3 arrested for June home invasion
Three Colusa residents are behind bars in Glenn County today facing burglary charges.
Marin Amado Espinoza, 23, Arthur Joseph Gomez, 34, and Veronica Ellen Flores, 27, were involved in a June home-invasion burglary south of Orland on Old Highway 99W, the Glenn County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Homeowner Roman Gonzalez Corona, 64, told authorities he awoke around 4 a.m. on June 10 to answer a knock on his front door.
A woman he described as “Native American,” asked if she could use the bathroom. When Corona opened the door, at least two other people also pushed their way into his home, authorities said.
Corona was pinned to the floor, his arm twisted around his back and a blanket was thrown over his head. He told investigators that he was held down by the men while the woman ransacked the house.
Corona was the second Orland resident robbed at home that day, but authorities do not believe the crimes are related, Sheriff Larry Jones said.
A four-month investigation led sheriff’s deputies to Gomez’s home in the he 1000 block of Neva Avenue, Jones said.
Flores was arrested Monday in Willows after she arrived for her weekly report to the probation office. Colusa authorities arrested Espinoza and Gomez on Friday, Jones said.
Gomez was taken into custody by Colusa police after a brief foot chase that ended when he was Tazed by officers, Jones said.
All three remained in custody in Glenn County Jail late Tuesday. A court date was not available.
