The symbolism and significance of correctly folding the American flag was demonstrated by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4218 at the Corning Senior Center recently.

Immediately following the ceremony, the flag was presented to the center with news that a new flag pole would be going up at the center, thanks to the help of the Corning Exchange Club, VFW Post 4218 and Corning.

"This is a great gift for our senior community," said center Coordinator Linda Daniels-Lima.

The senior center will be hosting a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser at 11 a.m. on March 16. The menu will include ham and cabbage with carrots, potatoes and apple pie. A suggested $5 donation is helpful, and as seating is limited.
