Weekend Christmas events planned
Christmas moves back to Market Street in Colusa on Friday, and Williams will light up E Street with its traditional parade on Saturday.
The two annual Christmas celebrations are popular events, but perhaps no more than this year in Colusa.
Christmas Tyme in Colusa returns to its home on Market Street with 48 vendor booths, entertainment, a tractor decorating contest, a business window decorating contest and a free raffle for Christmas trees — among a host of other activities.
The event was held on Market Street for 14 years before moving to around the historic courthouse the past two seasons.
The festival runs from 6 p.m.-8:30 from Third to Eighth streets.
The Lighted Parade in Williams is one of the best small-town Christmas events in the valley.
It kicks off with its own vendor offerings at 3 p.m., but officially starts with the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
The parade, which features entries from dozens of community businesses and civic organizations, runs down Seventh Street and turns west on E Street.
That is followed by the traditional Fireman's Ball at the old gym located near the Sacramento Valley Museum.
The National Weather Service has no rain in the forecast for either day, but temperatures are expected to dip into the low 40s during the evening hours.
