Colusa woman dies crossing Market Street
A 55-year-old Colusa woman died this morning after being struck by a Ford pickup truck while crossing Market Street, near 12th Street, in Colusa.
Denise Christian, 55, of Colusa, died of her injuries after leaving the scene of the accident, which occurred about 6:50 a.m., Colusa police Chief Ross said.
It was not immediately clear if she died on her way to Enloe Medical Center, or at the Chico hospital, Ross said.
Christian was walking with another person across Market Street near the Les Schwab tire company at the corner of Market and 12th, Stark said.
Christian, who was in the lead, was struck while crossing the eastbound lane.
Ross referred to it as an “unmarked crosswalk.”
The man driving the truck, Timothy Cotrone, 44, of Colusa, told police he did not see Christian before he hit her with the front bumper of his truck while driving east on Market Street, Ross said.
Christian was treated at the scene by Enloe medics and was transported by helicopter to the medical center.
Stark said no arrest has been made, and at this point, alcohol and drugs are not considered to be a factor, but the investigation will continue.
