Scroggins new county education president
David Scroggins of Colusa was named Wednesday as the new board president for the Colusa County Office of Education. Scroggins could not attend, and will take over the duties at the next meeting.
While the board seat is an elected position, the president's job is rotated among the representatives of the various areas of the county.
Among the duties, the president runs the meetings, appoints to committees and is the primary board contact with the Superintendent of Schools office.
Education center design good, but no money
The state has approved the site and the design for a new Colusa Education Center, but the funding to purchase the property and build the center is missing."We have a (property) purchase agreement, but the state has no money," Superintendent of Schools Kay Spurgeon said.The property, with a purchase price of nearly $3.4 million, is located just west of the CHP office in Williams, Bonjie Immoos, assistant superintendent of business services, said.
