What's Happening in Stonyford: The Grange is now on Facebook

We are moving forward a little. The Stonyford Grange has a page on Facebook, Stonyford 686.

Last Tuesday's dinner was chili verde, and it was great. Laurie put her recipe on our Facebook page since she had so many requests for it. So, if you like chili verde, check it out.

Next week we're having breakfast for dinner: biscuits and gravy, sausage and pancake. That'll be a nice change. We haven't done that one yet. It is slated Tuesday evening at 5 p.m.

Bingo is doing well, and we have requests there to have it every week, rather than just twice a month. Chuck and Shirley are willing to work it, so come on out and give it a try. If it's every week, it'll be easier to remember, anyway. Starts at 6 p.m.

Sew What!? meets Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. My favorite craft is quilting, but we welcome anyone who likes to do any craft. Meeting is at the Grange.

Zumba is on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 5 p.m. — $1 per visit — and we will adjust the level of difficulty to your degree of fitness. Give this one a try — it's really fun and good for you.

Winter weather doesn't stop us. We have two events for this weekend: Elk Creek FFA is doing a tri-tip dinner at 6 p.m. on Feb. 9 with a concert afterward by Sourdough Slim and Adrienne Brannan. It will be at the Stonyford Community Hall and the price is $35.

Cake Walk is also Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. No entry fee. Tickets for each walk are 25 cents or five for $1. There will be hot dogs and chili dogs, snack bar stuff available. The theme for this one is Valentine's Day. If you can bake a cake for us, let Shirley know.

Stonyford Community Church is having their annual Valentine's Dinner on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. The menu will be different from previous dinners. It will be lasagna with antipasto, garlic bread and dessert this year. There will beentertainment afterward by musician Kathy. Dinner is served at 6 p.m.

The chickens are surviving the cold. It seems like we're helping out the wild birds, as well. Laurie stopped in during the day to check on them, and she scared up flocks of doves, quail and little wrens when she stepped into the coop.

She scared them, and they scared her. She said it reminded her of a scene from the old Hitchcock film "The Birds."

Luckily they just wanted out, though. No harm done.
