Thieves raid pot garden, assault owner

Suspect identified as a Stonyford man

A Stonyford man and an accomplice are wanted on suspicion of attempted murder and armed robbery after they allegedly broke into a private medical marijuana garden Sunday and opened fire on the homeowner, the Colusa County Sheriff's Department reported.

No one was injured, according to Sgt. Kevin Erdelt. However, at least two men escaped with an unknown amount of marijuana.

Authorities are looking for Christopher Trent Wright, 30, who is presumed "armed and dangerous."

Wright is caucasian, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 205 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He is heavily tattooed, including "Trent" on his neck, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities believe at least one other suspect was involved in the robbery, but no further information was available Tuesday.

The incident- occurred around 1:45 a.m. when Steven Graham, 50, of the 100 block of Dugald Court in Stonyford, was awakened by the burglary alarm on his medicinal garden, Erdelt said.

The garden fence had been cut open and several plants removed, Erdelt said. Graham said he followed a trail the thieves left behind his home. He told investigators he heard voices ahead, but was suddenly hit in the face by an unseen attacker, Erdelt said.

Graham said several shots were fired from an unknown type pistol or rifle, but he was not hit and fled back to his home. No bullet or shell casings have been recovered, Erdelt said.

Wright was last seen driving a black 2006 Dodge Magnum with 22-inch specialty rims. He may be traveling with a woman and children, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 458-0200.

Good thing medical grows are legal. Wouldn't want any crime to occur. Funny how a man that has to grow marijuana for medical reasons can chase bad guys through the hills, brush and creeks.
