Marysville Fire officials said a natural gas leak along Sampson Street caused the evacuation of three homes today.
According to Marysville Fire, a crew removing a tree stump hit a gas line at about 11:45 a.m.
Residents at Sampson Gardens, in the 1700 block of Sampson Street, were told to shelter in place.
Pacific Gas and Electric officials responded, and traffic was temporarily diverted in the area.
Wind helped dissipate the gas, fire officials said.
