Flu shots, other services offered at health fair
Nutritional services have expanded and free flu vaccinations will be available at the 11th annual Colusa Regional Medical Center Family Health Fair on Thursday at the county fairgrounds.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Main Exhibit Hall, features a cornucopia of activities for young and old alike.
"There will be a number of activities for children," said Mary Jane Tait, who is helping to organize the event for the hospital.
Smoky Bear is expected to be in attendance.
The event returns to the fairgrounds, 1303 10th St., Colusa, after being held at the medical center last year in celebration of the hospital's 10th anniversary as CRMC.
The event will feature a variety of free health checks, community resources, workshops and raffle drawings, including a special quilt being offered by the hospital foundation.
Firefighters will be on hand to show how to use extinguishers properly, and the CHP will demonstrate the proper way to use child seats and provide other information.
The Sheriff's Department will be doing children's fingerprinting.
A handful of community organizations, such as the Book Worm, the library and the Pacific Quilters are expected to attend, along with a variety of resource organizations such as Public Health.
Lunch will be available on site. Free transportation through the Colusa Transit Company is available for those 60 or older by calling 458-0287, courtesy of
