Red Bluff man dies in crash
A 29-year-old man from Red Bluff was killed in a vehicle crash on Highway 99E at 12:40 a.m. on Friday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
It appeared Francisco Farias allowed the 1997 Nissan Frontier pickup he was driving northbound on the highway, just south of Hogsback Road, to veer to the left, crossing the southbound lane and shoulder before colliding head-on with a large tree, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The impact shattered the tree and crushed the front of the truck and Farias, who was wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, reported CHP.
