Early-morning lightning seen in Mid-Valley

Some early-morning lightning was reported Monday in the Nicolaus and Sheridan areas.
The National Weather Service said that overnight there were several hundred lightning storms in Northern California, mostly in the Sierra Nevada and its foothills.
There was also some isolated lightning activity around Gridley, meteorologist Karl Swanberg said.
A small fire sparked by lightning was reported near Bullards Bar Reservoir in the Yuba foothills and contained, Tahoe National Forest officials said.
