Maxwell Rodeo Saturday
The 78th annual Maxwell Rodeo kicks off Saturday morning at 8 a.m. with a bull run and a parade at 9:45 a.m. This is one of the last free rodeos in America and one of Colusa County’s oldest events.
Rodeo officials anticipate about 2,000 visitors will descend on the town of Maxwell this weekend. With more than 70 float entries, the parade will include musical ensembles from county schools.
Saturday events include the 11th annual Maxwell Classic Car Show. Billed as the “best little free car show in the world,” the Maxwell show will feature several cars that have been featured in national publications. Entries can be made on the day of the show.
The games begin at 11:30 a.m. and include motorized go-carts, a basketball toss, and frog derby, which will start at noon. There will also be an art show and a bench press contest.
Maxwell FFA members will serve lunch at the Chuck Wagon. The meal will include barbecued tri-tip and all the fixings.
