Nielsen honored by gun group

The California Rifle and Pistol Association has named Assemblyman Jim Nielsen, R-Gerber, Legislator of the Year in recognition of his strong legislative record supporting the 2nd Amendment.

"I am honored to be named Legislator of the Year by the CRPA," Nielsen said in a statement.

"I have and will always side with honest, law-abiding citizens and their Constitutional right to own and use firearms. The rights of California gun owners are constantly under attack in the Legislature and I will continue to stand against any attempts to diminish these rights."

Nielsen is running for the state 3rd Senate District in a special election on Nov. 6.

His Assembly district includes Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama and Yolo counties.
