Colusa High FFA awards handed out

Senior Katy Tarr walked away with the prestigious DEKALB Award sponsored by Monsanto during Wednesday's Colusa High School FFA awards night.

Tarr and other FFA members were recognized for their hard work in the classroom, supervised agricultural projects and FFA activities.

Retiring Colusa Unified Superintendent Larry Yegohian and Colusa High Principal Dave McGrath were given special recognition, and an honorary membership was bestowed on Dave Tarr.

Freshmen Branden Woodring and Andrea Thomas were given the Star Greenhand Award, and sophomore Ashley Ornbaun was the Star Chapter Farmer. High Achievement Point Awards went to Alexis Ramirez, Mackenzie Bressler, Kendall Cotter and Andrea Thomas.

Cheyenne Laux, Christain Marzan, Marian Preciado and Mikenzie Martinez received Outstanding Achievement Awards for Agriscience. Seniors honored as program completers and given sashes for graduation were Aaron Anderson, Max McGrath, Marisa Baird, Darci Joyal, Christian Montejano, Monica Orozco, Alexis Ramirez, Nicholas Reynoso, Katy Tarr and Breckin Townsend.

FFA members who received Proficiency Awards for their work on their SAE projects are: Max McGrath (Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication); Shane Myers (Beef Production); Kolby Steidlmayer (Sheep Production); Branden Woodring (Fruit and Nut Production); Katy Tarr (Swine Production); Andrea Thomas (Forage Production); Dylan Fusaro (Wildlife Management and Production); Nicholas Reynoso and Breckin Townsend (Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance); Mackenzie Bressler (Diversified Livestock and Ag Education); Lucas Corriea, Gustavo Sanchez, Kyle Stacey and Nicholas Moresco (Home and Community Development; and Lane Cervantes (Agricultural Service)

More than 30 members were given their Chapter Scholarship pins for keeping an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
