What's Happening in Stonyford: We're heading toward spring
We're almost through the winter, and heading toward springtime, hooray.
I hope the weather realizes that soon. Our winter has been colder than usual.
The Fire Department fundraiser is next Saturday, March 9, from 4:30-8 p.m. They are having Indian tacos. They will be having a raffle also. The funds will be used for medical or firefighting supplies. This is always a popular event.
Tuesday dinner at the Grange will be Baked Spaghetti Casserole this week. It's a cheesy sauce similar to lasagna with three cheeses, but made with spaghetti pasta. Dinner includes salad, bread and dessert, and coffee or punch. Serving starts at 5 p.m.
Don't forget Bingo is every Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. We're doing very well with the new schedule.
Zumba is Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5 p.m. Only $1 per visit.
Sew What!? ladies meet on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Lilly finished her jelly roll quilt. And Judy is going to have hers finished for the Indian taco raffle. And no, it's not a pastry. It's a method of strip quilting to make a quilt top in an afternoon. It's simple but quite visually effective.
The Paskenta quilters are having their annual party on Tuesday, March 12. This year it's a potluck with show and tell afterward. A few of us from Stonyford will attend. If anyone is interested in carpooling, give me a call, 218-7234. It's about 50 miles each way, but on back roads.
Maybe a few of the early wildflowers will be out. Anna, I think that my apple core quilt will be finished, or close enough to it for show and tell.
Stonyford Community Church had its annual business meeting last week, and welcome two new members to the fold, Laurie P. and Jo W.
Pastor John Smith has started a new men's Bible study group on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The ladies' Bible study has started at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Easter doings are coming up soon. Community church will have its sunrise service at the rodeo grounds on March 31.
Also, the rodeo is coming on May 4-5.
What happened to April? I don't have any special events for April. Maybe I'll have to make one up. How about a quilt show here, or a high tea? Any interest?
