Man loses control of car, crashes

A 43-year-old Maxwell man suspected of being under the influence of alcohol suffered minor injuries when he lost control of his 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe and crashed into a ditch along Maxwell-Sites Road Sunday afternoon.

Arturo Gonzalez was arrested at the scene then treated at Enloe Medical Center before being booked into Colusa County Jail, the CHP reported.

Gonzalez was traveling eastbound at about 55 mph when he drifted off the south edge of the road, corrected back to his left and crossed both lanes before leaving the north side of the road and crashing into the embankment of the ditch, causing the SUV to turn onto its right side, the CHP reported.

The accident occured at about noon on Sunday.

Gonzalez was wearing his safety belt, which the CHP said probably saved him from more serious injuries.
