Accidental shooting in Richfield
A Sacramento man target shooting in Richfield on Saturday shot himself in the hand with a .380-caliber semi-automatic pistol, reported the Tehama County Sheriff's Office.
Staff at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital notified the Sheriff's Office about a man being treated for a gunshot wound at 7:16 p.m.
Sheriff's deputies said when they arrived and questioned 51-year-old William Russell Horner, he told them he was target shooting with friends in the Thomas Creek area of Hall Road around 6:30 p.m. when his pistol malfunctioned.
Horner was attempting to clear the weapon when it accidentally discharged, sending a bullet through the palm of this hand, deputies stated.
