Town Hall meetings start again
The Colusa County Sheriff’s Department will once again start a series of community or “town hall” meetings, beginning this month in Grimes.
Sgt. Neil Cotter, who is in charge of organizing the meetings, said the purpose was to help the public understand and address problems that affect everyday life.
“We are a community, and our goal is to address community concerns,” Cotter said.
The meetings will be conducted at 7 p.m. each Thursday in Grimes, Colusa, Maxwell, Arbuckle, Stonyford, Princeton and Williams.
Sheriff’s personnel and other government agencies will participate, Cotter said.
Cotter said subjects that may be covered include traffic, animal control, drugs and alcohol, children and youth, safety and noise.
Colusa County Sheriff Scott Marshall and other department chiefs will be available, as staffing allows, to discuss issues and answer any question the public has.
“It’s an opportunity for the public to get to know the department and to discuss their concerns,” Cotter said.
The first town hall meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Grimes Scout Cabin. The second in the series will be Feb. 26 at the Sacramento River Fire station in Colusa. Other dates and locations will be listed in the community section of the Colusa County Sun-Herald.
