Corning grad earns degree
Cory Turner, a 2001 Corning High School graduate, received his doctorate of jurisprudence from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco on May 13.
Turner was one of 449 students who were members of the 131st commencement class at Hastings, the oldest law school west of the Mississippi and part of the University of California system. His law school work included a concentration in the field of social justice, and he earned membership in the Pro Bono Society.
The son of local residents Lee and Judy Turner, Turner grew up in Corning and attended Corning schools. He graduated with honors from California State University, Chico, in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in political science.
Turner and his wife, Mahalley Allen, will return to Chico in the fall, where she is a political science and legal studies coordinator at California State University, Chico.
