What's Happening in Stonyford: Yard sale on church lawn

Stonyford Community Church is having a big yard sale today.

It'll be on the church lawn, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. This is always a fun event, a social gathering as well as a chance to find a bargain or two. There will be refreshments, and lunch available. It's usually hot dogs, chili, maybe a potato or macaroni salad. And there is a rumor that there will be egg rolls, too.

The food will be served starting about 9:30 or 10 a.m. The community is always generous for this event. There should a wide variety of items for sale.

The Art Festival is this weekend in Elk Creek. It's outdoors at the library grounds, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. The hours are later than usual, so that people who have commitments during the day are still able to stop by.

This is my third year of participating in this event. It's always well-attended, and there should something there for everyone.

The Colusa Regional Medical Center clinic will have flu shots available on Oct, 5 and Oct. 12. They are open from 9 a.m. to noon, and are located at 5080 Lodoga Stonyford Road. The cost will be flat rate of $10 per shot. No appointment is necessary, just drop in. They'll be glad to take care of you.

Well, Chuck's Famous Chili was a great success at the Grange last week. Thanks to all who came out for a good meal. This Tuesday it will be Larry's Famous Spaghetti, with salad, bread and dessert. Dessert may be peach cobbler. Or maybe not, if I change my mind.

We start serving at 5 p.m. and have come close to running out the last couple of weeks, so don't get there too late.

We played bingo last week — had a good turnout. Next bingo dates are the second and fourth Wednesdays, Oct. 10 and Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.

Sew What!? ladies are sewing away, getting ready for the craft fairs coming up.

Harvest Dinner is scheduled for at 6 p.m. Oct. 13. It's a potluck.
