Williams man pleads not guilty in teen sex case

A 19-year-old Williams man charged with battery, false imprisonment and having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Colusa County Superior Court, court staff reported.

David Carmona Fuentes, 19, was arrested Jan. 28 at Williams High School and booked into Colusa County Jail on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, false imprisonment and threatening a witness — all felonies.

Additionally, Fuentes faces possible misdemeanor charges of battery on a cohabitant, causing willful harm to a child and making annoying telephone calls, Colusa County Jail records state.

Williams police have declined to disclose exact details behind the charges because the alleged victim is a minor, but have confirmed both were involved in a "dating relationship" prior to police involvement.

School officials have called it "an affair of the heart that got out of control."

Fuentes' attorney, Leo Steidlmayer, reportedly asked for a probation department report to possibly release Fuentes from jail or reduce his bail, court staff confirmed.

Fuentes is due back in court Feb. 18 to set a preliminary hearing.

He remains in custody at the Colusa County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, jail staff said Thursday.
