Lady Panthers ground Lumberjacks

The Maxwell High girls basketball team used a 21-13 scoring advantage in the second half to pull away from visiting Redding Adventist on Thursday, sending the Lumberjacks back home with a 37-24 defeat.

Laura Wells used her height and shooting touch to establish a new season high with 14 points, which led all scorers, while also coming down with nine rebounds. Kendall Vierra was a thorn in the side of the Lumberjacks all evening, scoring 11 points, handing out seven assists and making six steals.

Laramie Vargas netted eight points, and hauled down 14 boards.

Rachel Dunbar paced the Lumberjacks with eight points.

The Lady Panthers punched their record up to 3-4 in the North Valley League, and 12-7 overall. They traveled to paradise Adventist on Tuesday, and stay on the road for a Friday date at Westwood.
