Sports Brief: WHS Alumni Games a huge success

Williams High Alumni Games a huge success

Williams High held its first annual alumni basketball games last week. Eight alumni women players went head-to-head against the girls varsity team on Thursday, including a family of three sisters playing against each other. The alumni are now out for revenge after losing by two points, mainly due to a very biased alumni referee who made calls in favor of the girls varsity team.

Also on Thursday night, the action was more serious when the alumni men played the current boys varsity team. All of the alumni donned NBA jerseys, so it looked like a rainbow team against the Brown & Gold. The alumni won by six points after playing a very close game.

On Friday night, 15 men walked out on the court from the 70s and 80s. Because there were mostly men from the even numbered graduating years, the guys divided up the teams and the game began. It was surprisingly close and all played to have a good time, which was the theme of the evening.

The spectators of the next game saw many successful three-point shots as the men from the 90s and 00s played in the Brown & Gold jerseys. They were very impressive to watch and the audience knew those 18 players still had some playing time left in them.
