Model coach nominations being accepted
A coach's work is never done, not even when the practice, game or season is over.
To recognize coaches who are positive role models within their schools and the communities, the California Interscholastic Federation is accepting nominations for its CIF Model Coach Award.
In order to be considered for the award a model coach must have demonstrated and taught the six core ethical values: Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship (the "Six Pillars of Character").
The highest potential of sports is achieved when coaches consciously Teach, Enforce, Advocate and Model these values and are committed to the ideal of Pursuing Victory with Honor. They also must have a minimum of 10 years active coaching at the high school level.
Each CIF-member school can nominate a maximum of one male and one female coach who best reflects the values of Pursuing Victory with Honor and are positive influences for California's high school student-athletes. Nominations must be forwarded to your local CIF Section office by Nov. 28, which will forward its selections to the CIF State office no later than Nov. 30. Late nominations will not be read.
In the nomination process, please include no less than two letters of support for the nominated coaches. These shall include specific exemplary sportsmanship and behavior/actions on and off the playing field. The nomination form, which is available at www.cifns.org, must be signed by the principal and included with the letters.
The due date for nominations to the State CIF office is Nov. 30 (from CIF Section office). Nominations are due to the Northern Section office by Nov. 15, to allow time for processing prior to submittal of its selections to the State CIF office.
Send all nominations to your local CIF Section Office, not the CIF State Office.
