Colusa County closes with win

The Colusa County girls Senior League softball team had little trouble closing out its regular season with a win Friday, stopping the visiting Sutter Buttes 15-2 in a four-inning contest played at Brown/Jaconetti Field in Colusa.

Colusa’s first five batters all scored in the first inning, and the “lean, mean green machine” piled on three more in the second before a six-run third and scoring its final run in the fourth.

Kayla Cunha left the yard for a home run in her 2-for-3 plate performance, but Katrina LaGrande, Emiley Correa and Abby Cranford shared team-hitting honors with three hits apiece.

Cunha, Mack VanFleet and Noemi Padilla each put up a pair of hits, with Cranford, LaGrande, Cunha and Correa each rapping two-baggers.

Colusa began All-Star play Monday with a game against Wheatland in Olivehurst – the host of the Senior League tournament.
