Teams hit the links in Colusa
The Colusa Golf & Country Club was the setting for the latest combined match featuring the teams from the Sacramento Valley and Mid-Valley leagues on Wednesday.
Of the SVL schools, Willows took honors with a team score of 490, followed by Durham (502) and Colusa (536).
The Honkers' Jake Pence tied with Durham's Bryce Daarud for medalist, with both golfers carding 85's. Pence's came from a 41 on the front nine followed by a 44 on the back.
Jack Foley added a 91 for the Honkers, from a 47 on the front and 44 on the back. Rounding out the Willows team score were Garret Close, 96 (46/50); Nick Reed, 107 (54/53) and Kolton Page, 111 (59/52).
Nic Reynoso shot the only round under 100 for the RedHawks, coming off with a 99 from 53 on the front and 46 on the back.
Nate Lyss followed with a 106 (50/56) and was joined by Austin Benson, 109 (56/53); Michael Rew, 110 (54/56) and David Pearson, 112 (59/53).
Once again, Los Molinos had no competitors for the MVL win, as Williams sent just three golfers and Esparto, two.
The Bulldogs were led by a 111 from Sam Mesecher, who shot a 60 on the front and a 57 on the back.
In addition, Cris De La Cruz came off with a 120 (59/61); Kolt Pitkin, 123 (65/58); Dani Garmen, 142 (72/70) and Katie Palmer teamed with Uriah Hancock for a 142, each golfer shooting a 71.
Nick Mayes was low man for the Yellowjackets with a 130 (61/69) and was joined by Ricardo Ocampo, 132 (64/68) and Oscar Ruiz, 138 (69/69).
