Minors Softball

Peach Bowl 6, Colusa 0

Colusa managed just one hit against Peach Bowl on Saturday in the championship game of the Minor Division All-Star Tournament in Wheatland.

Helena Harris collected Colusa's only hit but Annie Lay, Gracie Myers and Elena Alemeda kept the game close from the pitcher's circle.

Theresa Mitchum, Diana Santana, Jessica Hickel, Cynthia Velasquez, Lay and Harris were each named outstanding player of the game during the tournament.

Colusa 9, Sutter Area 5

Harris struck out 12 and pitched a complete game to help lead Colusa to a 9-5 victory against Sutter Area on Friday in Wheatland. The victory put Colusa in the championship game.

Myers hit two doubles, Mitchum went 2 for 3 with a double, Diana Santana added two hits and two RBI, Lay collected two hits and scored two runs and Jessica Hickel singled twice.

Minors Baseball

Colusa 9, Wheatland 7

Xavier Lopez hit a go-ahead two-run triple in the top of the sixth inning and struck out the side in the bottom half to pull off a dramatic 9-7 win in an elimination game against Wheatland on Sunday at Sutter Buttes Little League in Yuba City.

Leo Guzman went 2 for 4 with a double, Jacob Havens added two hits and Cole Stassi singled twice to lead the Colusa offense. Havens pitched 3 1/3 and Lopez tossed 2 2/3 innings while striking out five batters.

Colusa played in an elimination game on Tuesday night, with results appearing in Saturday's paper.

Westshore 15, Colusa 4

It was a close game early on but Westshore had some big hits and pulled away from Colusa late on Saturday at Sutter Buttes Little League in Yuba City. Jesse Sahagun had an RBI hit and Cody Free, Riley Stice and Chase Wells pitched for Colusa.

Westshore 6, Westside 4

Westside took a 3-0 lead after four innings but a three-run homer by Westshore tied the game in the top of the sixth on Sunday. Westside had a chance to put the game away with a bases loaded no outs advantage in the bottom half of the sixth but were unable to plate a run.

Westshore scored three runs in the top of the seventh but Westside couldn't rally back.

Logan Amsler and Johnny Corchado had RBI base hits, and Luke Voorhees and Matt Williams added hits. David Villa walked and stole three bases, including home, in the seventh.

Westside 13, Wheatland 8

Westside jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first inning and beat Wheatland 13-8 in the opening round of the Minor Division All-Star Tournament on Saturday.

Corchado pitched two innings and went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI at the plate. Mitchell Kley added three hits and three RBI and Eduardo Paiz doubled and drove in three runs. Daniel Ruiz and Daniel Albiso both drove in two runs.

Majors Baseball

Colusa 18, Westshore 5

Colusa bounced back from an opening-round loss by trouncing Westshore 18-5 on Sunday at Sutter Area Little League in Sutter.

Ethan Remmers drove in four runs with two home runs and a double, and Lucas Davison went 4 for 4 with a triple, home run and five RBI.

Zach Dillard doubled, tripled and drove in two runs, and Bobby Bill went 2 for 2 with two runs scored. Alec Bailey struck out five in four innings and Christian Lyss struck out two in one inning on the mound.

Colusa played Westside Tuesday night, with results appearing in Saturday's paper.

Peach Bowl 11, Colusa 3

Errors cost Colusa in an 11-3 opening day loss to Peach Bowl on Saturday. Bailey went 2 for 3 with Colusa's only RBI, and Remmers, Dillard, Lyss and Lucas Davison each had one hit.

Davison pitched well but Colusa struggled to get the final out in most innings, Peach Bowl scored 8 runs with two outs.

Marysville 13, Westside 0

Westside ran into a hot-hitting Marysville team in the opening round of the Major Division All-Star tournament on Sunday, losing 13-0.

Marysville hit four home runs and Dutch Kalfsbeek connected for Westside's only hit in the game.

Westside returned to action Tuesday against Colusa at Sutter Butte's Little League in Yuba City.

Juniors Baseball

Colusa 10, Westshore 9

Martin Rangel drove in the winning run with a sacrifice bunt and made a diving catch in center field for the second out in the bottom of the seventh inning to help preserve Colusa's 10-9 victory in the second round of the Junior Division All-Star Tournament at Marysville High on Sunday.

Colusa fell behind 9-4 but rallied back with two runs in the sixth from the bottom of the line-up and four in the seventh when the top of the order stepped to the plate.

Garrett Hamilton had two hits, including a three-run double, and Hunter Mobley hit a two-run double and scored two runs. Jorge Bravo singled and stole three bases, Brian Burg, Peyton Schmidt, Rigo Santana, John Barron and Shane Saso each collected a hit.

Santana held Westshore scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory.

Colusa 19, Southshore 3

Schmidt struck out six batters in 2 2/3 innings and scored three runs to help Colusa beat Southshore 19-3 on Friday in the opening game of the Junior Division tournament.

Bravo and Rangel both had two hits and scored three runs, Hamilton added two hits and two runs, Santana doubled and score three runs, and Barron singled and scored twice.

Westside 14 Sutter Area 9

Westside won its second game in a row, beating Sutter Area 14-9 on Monday to stay alive in the Junior Division tournament.

Cole Travis pitched 5 1/2 innings and recorded five strikeouts, and Chris Muniz closed the game out.

Oscar Valencia went 2 for 3 two singles and a RBI, Weston Leighty 2 for 3 with three RBI, Ethan Povlsen went 2 for 4 two singles, and Cole Travis 2 for 4 with two RBI.

Westside returns to action at 5:45 p.m. on Friday at the Marysville High baseball field.

Westside 13 Southshore 10

Jesus Villa pitched four innings recorded five strikeouts, Leighty pitched three innings and had three strike outs as Westside beat Southshore 13-10 in an elimination game on Sunday.

Travis went 5 for 5 with two doubles, three RBIs and four stolen bases, Garrett Brainard went 2 for 3 with an RBI and three stolen bases.
