Colusa JV girls run away with SVL title
The Colusa High School junior varsity girls track team easily captured first place at the Sacramento Valley League North Division championships on Friday, scoring 146 points on the day.
The Redskins finished 97 points ahead of Durham, which was second with 49 points. Colusa ended the day with eight champions.
Caroline Meyers won both sprint events and captured the long jump for three of Colusa’s golds. She won the 100 in 13.48 seconds and claimed the 200 in 27.37. She jumped 15-4 to win the long jump.
Carli Marengo was a winner in the 800 meters in 2:40.60 while Tenille Tauscher won the shot put (27-00.75) and the discus (68-6). Noemi Padilla won the triple jump with a distance of 28-10 while Carly Hodges on the 1600 meters in 6:31.70.
The junior varsity boys claimed second place behind Durham and had four champions. Hayden Duron won the shot put (42-9.25) and the discus (116-2) while Carlos Gutierrez won the long jump (19-6) and Darren Smith won the triple jump (39-4).
For the varsity boys, Bernardo Pedraza won the long jump with a leap of 19-9.
