Piseno a double winner for Corning
The Corning High School boys track team threw its weight around at the Gary Burton Invitational on Friday.
Luis Piseno won the junior varsity boys shot put and discus while Ben Osburn won the varsity discus. Piseno had throws of 48-5.5 in the shot and 107-11 in the discus while Osburn’s heave covered 127-4.
Other winners for the Cardinals included Danielle Beardsley and Arielle Patton for the varsity girls. Beardsley ran the 200 in 27.59 while Patton won the 100 hurdles in 17.53. Corning also won both relay events, winning the 4x100 in 55.81 and the 4x400 in 5:17.87.
For the JV girls, Regan Albee won the 160 in 5:54 while Mattie Maloney won the pole vault with a height of 8-4.
For the JV boys, Jamie Davila won the 400 meters in 58.31 while Jos Torres won the 800 in 2:14.
Other local winners included Williams’ Tori Hibsch in the varsity girls long jump (14-3.5), Karlee Welsh in the varsity girls 3200 (13:16), Los Molinos’ Michelle Griffith in the varsity girls shot put (31-1), Los Molinos’ Caroline Salazar in the JV girls discus (70-5) and shot put (28-1.5), Willows Olivia Fleming in the JV girls 400 (1:06.53) and the 300 hurdles (53.26), Williams’ Abigail Cranford in the JV girls 100 (13.90), Willows’ Cody Pastorino in the varsity boys triple jump (39-6) and Willows Andrew Carmon in the varsity boys high jump (6-0).
