Pierce boys teams second at SVL track meet
The Pierce Bears finished second in the varsity boys and junior varsity boys divisions at the Sacramento Valley League South Division championships on Thursday.
The Bears scored 86 points in the varsity boys division, but Rio Vista ran away with the title with 150 points. In the JV division, Portola won the meet with 125 points while Pierce had 86.
Michael Barber was a winner in four varsity events. He claimed first place in the 110 hurdles (16.47), the long jump (21-3), the triple jump (41-7) and the high jump (5-11).
In the JV boys division, Diston Jordan won the 100 and 200 meters in times of 12.36 and 24.72 seconds respectively. Alberto Flores and Kyle Duncan each won for the Bears with Flores winning the discus (103-0) and Duncan claiming the triple jump (36-0).
Pierce finished third in the varsity girls division with 28 points. The Bears did not have any individual champions. The Bears were fourth in the JV girls division with 40 points.
