Lady Panthers batter Willows

Maxwell collects 10 hits in home win

The Maxwell High softball team wasted little time at home Tuesday, scoring five runs in the first inning of an 8-4 triumph over the Honkers.

Andi Robledo went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Panthers, and Kyle Word tripled and drove in two. Maddie Dunlap and Nikole Burg both banged out a pair of hits, with Dunlap knocking in two, and Robledo and Laura Wells each toed the plate for a pair of runs scored.

Allison Costa earned the pitching win, holding the Honkers to just five hits in a complete game win. She struck out five, issued four free passes and hit two batters.

Meghan Hughes doubled and tripled for Willows, with Ashley Love also delivering a two-bagger.

The Panthers took a 3-2 record into action in this weekend's Liberty Tournament.

Maxwell stays very active next week, hosting Liberty Tuesday, before holding their own tournament over the weekend.
