Sports Roundup: September 7

Varsity Football

Colusa clocked by Live Oak

The Redskins fell hard in their home-opener Friday, getting blasted 57-0 by visiting LIve Oak to fall to 0-2 on the young season.

The Lions out-gained Colusa 460-12 offensively, with the Redskins picking up their only first downs on the game's last series.

Colusa will try to right its ship Friday, hosting Maxwell (0-1).

Bears bagged by Braves

The Pierce High football team was never able to get rolling Friday, as six starters were out with injuries, according to the Marysville Appeal-Democrat, which reported Mike Villanueva rushed for 24 yards for the Bears (1-1).

The Bears can hopefully heal up before their next contest - a Sept. 17 clash at Williams in the Rice Bowl.

Eagles done in by Dunsmuir

After scoring a first-quarter TD, the Princeton High football team would not make any return trips to the end zone, while host Dunsmuir rolled up 56 points in the Eagles' 52-6 defeat.

Colton Sordahl carried 12 times for 228 yards and five scores for the Tigers, with Justin Shuler running for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Princeton (0-1) hosts Hayfork on Friday.
