Colusa County pigskin previews for Sept. 10
Maxwell (0-1) @ Colusa (0-2)
Maxwell was beaten at home last week in a game that featured a few questionable calls and a lengthy delay caused by the lights going out.
Colusa was beaten at home last week in a game that featured a few yards (12) gained by the Redskins offensively, and Live Oak playing lights-out.
Neither team can like the taste of last week, so this game will be a refreshing palate cleanser for one of them.
Colusa had yielded 101 points in its first two games, while not scoring any. Maxwell can and will air the ball out, so expect a lot of offense from the Panthers.
The close proximity of the two schools negates a real home-crowd advantage, but the Colusa faithful are more than ready to cheer for some signs of offense.
Williams (2-0) @ Biggs (0-2)
The Yellowjackets invade Biggs with a 2-0 record. Savor that for a few, Williams fans, your 'Jackets are 2-0.
Can anybody say 3-0? There's a very good chance you'll need to be able to.
Biggs has been positively abysmal, earning its 0-2 mark by giving up 124 points in two games, while scoring just 20.
Carlos Velasquez has commanded respect by completing 13-of-37 for an average of 128 yards per game and has tossed five TDs. The running game is averaging 98.0, and half of Tony Salcedo's six catches have resulted in six points.
It's going to take a Biggs effort to slow down a rejuvenated Williams squad, which is beaming with confidence for the first time in quite awhile.
Hayfork (1-0) @ Princeton (0-1)
It's going to be a tall order for the Eagles to knock the Timberjacks down to size. Hayfork won it all with a spotless 11-0 record last season, and scored 66 in its opening-night win at Liberty.
It's no mystery who Princeton is going to have to keep its eyes on, as QB Scott Harrison was all-everything for last year's squad, leading the team in rushing (156.8), passing (125.8), total yards (282.6) and points (25.1) per game.
Princeton allowed 400 yards rushing in Week 1, and that will not win this week either.
