Geyer 15th at NorCal golf championships
Pierce High School’s Ben Geyer shot a four over par 74 at the CIF NorCal golf championships held at the Richmond Country Club on Monday to finish in a tie for 15th place.
Geyer, a junior at Pierce High School, had a birdie and five bogeys on the day to finish six shots behind the winner. Daniel Semlar of Carlmont won the event with a 68.
Geyer advanced to the NorCal finals by finishing in second place at the Northern Section golf championships last week at Graeagle Meadows Golf Course.
Geyer shot a 38 on the back nine and 38 on the front to finish with a 76, which was good enough for second place among the individual golfers.
Geyer finished in fourth place overall.
Chad Kimmelshue of Pleasant Valley and Nick Fasiano of Shasta both shot a 70 for the low round of the day.
Willows’ Chato Esparza nearly qualified for the NorCal event as he shot a 78 at Graeagle. He finished sixth in the individual standings and missed a playoff for one of the qualifying spots by two strokes.
The top two teams and the top four individuals all advanced to Monday’s NorCal event at Richmond.
