Varsity Volleyball
Maxwell 3, Quincy 0
Maxwell disposed of Quincy much easier the second time around, defeating the Trojans 25-21, 25-18, 25-14 on Thursday in Maxwell.
The first time the teams played, the Trojans pushed Maxwell (11-2, 6-0 Mid-Valley League) to five games but the ever-improving Panthers shut them down this time.
Jenna Powell and Ashley Azevedo led Maxwell with six kills each. Kaily McKinley made five kills, Brittney Haywood had four , Jessica Jenkins nailed two kills and Taylor Perry picked up her one kill with the match-winner.
Maxwell's junior varsity team lost 25-23, 25-14.
The Panthers travel to Williams on Tuesday for another MVL match.
Princeton 3, Paradise Adventist 0
Maryssa Martin led Princeton with nine kills and five aces as they beat Paradise Adventist Academy 25-12, 25-13, 25-11 on Monday in Paradise.
The victory gave the Eagles the top spot in the Pioneer-Valley League as the loss was the Cougars' first in league play.
Gaby Rodriguez and Ashley McMartin added five kills, and Amanda Hansen served four aces for the Eagles.
Pierce 3, Esparto 0
Eight Pierce players had at least two kills and the Bears swept Esparto 25-16, 25-11, 25-19 on Tuesday in Esparto.
Hilary Brainard, Natalie Corona and Mariah Diaz had six kills each. Morgan Diaz made four kills, and Marina Ambriz, Ellen Hansen, Madison Leighty and Karlie Talbot added two each.
Brainard and Hansen led the Bears with six aces each, Leighty passed for 28 assists and Macey Cox had 16 digs.
Colusa 3, Biggs 0
The RedHawks held Biggs to just 27 points the entire match Thursday sweeping the host Wolverines 25-7, 25-10, 25-10.
Colusa improved to 14-11 overall and 5-1 in Mid-Valley League play. They will travel to Quincy on Tuesday.
