Varsity Girls Basketball
Maxwell 59, Quincy 41
The Panthers started strong and pulled away from Quincy in their first Mid-Valley League game of the season Friday in Maxwell.
Maxwell (7-4, 1-0 MVL) led 12-4 after the first quarter and three players scored 10 points or more.
Jenna Powell led the Panthers with 16 points and nine rebounds, Kaily McKinley scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds and Brittney Haywood added 10 points and six boards.
Ashley Azevedo scored eight points and dished out a team-high six assists, and Jessie Otterson added eight points and four assists.
Varsity Boys Basketball
Maxwell 67, Quincy 62
Maxwell fell behind in the first half but took the lead with a big third quarter and added to the lead in the fourth.
Zach Troughton led the Panthers (8-5, 1-0 MVL) with 20 points and nine rebounds. George Barajas scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had five assists. Blake Vierra and Bryce Perry chipped in 10 points each. Eddie Rangel added five points, six assists and four steals.
JV Boys Basketball
Colusa 49, Biggs 34
Max Moreno led the RedHawks to a 49-34 victory against Biggs on Friday with 22 points on 8 of 11 shooting. Hunter Mobley added 12 points for Colusa.
