Williams hosting first wrestling match
The fledgling Yellowjackets wrestling program is hosting its first meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Williams High.
Wheatland and University Prep are set to attend the meet, Yellowjackets coach Nik Willis said. Williams and U-Prep will have about 10 wrestlers each, and Wheatland will have about 20.

Colusa 52, Williams 33
The RedHawks outscored the Yellowjackets 38-10 in the second and third quarters of their Mid-Valley League victory Friday in Williams.
R.J. Phillips led the RedHawks with 13 points, Destin Smith scored 12, Hayden Bailey added eight and six other Colusa players had at least two points.
Colusa (9-9, 3-0 MVL) set up a showdown with the only other team in league without a loss tonight in Maxwell.
Williams (6-7, 0-2 MVL) hosts Biggs tonight.
Maxwell 73, Portola 66
The Panthers (10-5, 3-0 MVL) remained undefeated in league play with a victory Friday against host Portola (3-9, 0-2 MVL).
Isaias Martinez led Maxwell with 19 points, George Barajas added 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals, Zach Troughton scored 16 points and added 10 rebounds, and Eddie Rangel scored nine points, had eight assists and seven rebounds.

Portola 43, Maxwell 25
The Tigers (9-3, 2-0 MVL) controlled the game from the start and handed the Panthers (8-5, 2-1 MVL) their first league loss Friday in Portola.
Kaily McKinley led Maxwell with 10 points and 13 rebounds, but the Tigers outscored the Panthers in every quarter.

Pierce 2, Durham 2
The Bears (3-3-3) took a 2-0 lead into halftime but Durham (2-5-1) scored two second-half goals to tie it Thursday in Durham.
