Princeton out-slugs Lady Yellowjackets

Eagles hammer out 13 hits for first win of season

The Lady Eagles piled on six runs in the very first inning Tuesday and tacked on three in the second, and the 9-2 hole after two innings was just too much for the Williams High softball team, as Princeton prevailed 12-2 at home.

Alejandra Gutierrez was the hitting star for Princeton, finishing the day a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, driving in a pair of runs and scoring three. She was just one of five Princeton players enjoying mutli-hit games, as Mia Nelson, Brittany Ewing, Erika Donohugh, and Gaby Rodriguez swung the bats for two hits apiece. Both of Rodriguez's went for two bases, Donohugh doubled, and Nelson and Kodi Gimblin both legged out triples.

Rodriguez went the distance in the game, which was shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. She scattered six hits, struck out three and walked five for the win.

Williams statistics were not available before press time.

The 1-2 Eagles host Hamilton Tuesday, and visit Maxwell Thursday.

Williams (1-2) hosted Pierce Thursday, and heads to Red Bluff on Wednesday to take on Mercy.
