Girls Basketball
Portola 52, Colusa 49
The Colusa High girls basketball team may not be playing for the Northern Section championship at Chico State on Saturday, but the RedHawks' season isn't over just yet.
Following a loss at Portola in the Division V semifinals on Tuesday night, Colusa coach Jerry Davies said that the RedHawks will still play in the state tournament next week due to a shortage of Division-V teams.
So while the loss stings, it didn't bring an end to Colusa's season.
"It was just one of those games where we just couldn't pull it out late," Davies said. "We really wanted to get to Chico for our community, but unfortunately that didn't happen."
Colusa (20-7) was led by Katie Mobley's 13-point, 14-rebound, three-block effort, while Cheyenne Rogers added 12 points, eight rebounds and a pair of assists in the loss. Matty Myers chipped in with 10 points, Emily Mobley had six points, 11 rebounds and three assists and Paige Townzen finished with five points.
Davies said the RedHawks will found out where they will play in the state tournament when the brackets are released on Sunday.
Baseball

Nikki Herrera led the Bears offense with three hits and drove in two runs. Ashley Flood and Sierra Schloesser each smacked two hits and Angel Clark drove in two runs.
