Varsity Softball
Colusa 4, Pierce 0
Sophia Garcia returned after sitting out a game with a sore quadriceps muscle and shut out Pierce on Thursday.
Garcia struck out 15 in the pitcher's circle and went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead Colusa (6-4) to victory. Ashleigh Biggs went 2 for 3 and Kendal Cotter scored two runs.
Freshman Carissa Cabral made her first start for the Bears (3-4) and tossed seven innings, striking out four and walking just two. Marina Delgado went 2 for 3 for Pierce and Nikki Herrera hit a double.
Wheatland 14, Colusa 0
Taylor Davies collected Colusa's only hit and filled in for Garcia at pitcher after the RedHawks ace tweaked her leg Tuesday.
Mikayla McLanahan and Amy Nichols hit home runs for Wheatland (11-0-1).
Hamilton 13, Pierce 5
Cabral hit a double and drove in two runs but Hamilton scored eight runs in the 2nd inning to beat the Bears on Tuesday.
Haleigh Shadinger singled and drove in a run and Julia Dye singled and scored twice.
Colusa 3, Yuba City 2
Devin McKey drove in two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and the RedHawks edged Yuba City (4-7) on Monday.
Yasmin Moreno went 2 for 4 with an RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the 5th inning, Biggs went 3 for 4 with a run scored and Davies added two hits.
Garcia struck out 10 and allowed just two unearned runs in eight innings.
Varsity Baseball
Colusa 10, East Nic 4
Luke Corriea doubled and drove in four runs and Colusa (4-2) beat host East Nicolaus (1-5) in a non-league game Wednesday.
The RedHawks pulled away in the late innings after another quality start by Hayden Bailey. Bailey allowed four runs, two earned, in six innings while striking out five, walking two and allowing four hits. Jose Santana struck out two in one inning of relief.
Colusa took advantage of nine walks and Matt Pingrey went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Chad Elliott singled, walked twice and scored three runs.
Colusa 8, Wheatland 4
Ross Cervantes picked up his first win on the season and the RedHawks kept Wheatland off the scoreboard until the bottom of the 6th inning Tuesday.
Cervantes allowed four runs, one earned, and he struck out four, walked two and allowed five hits.
Connor Herrick went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Pingrey went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Cervantes, Corriea and Kyle Cervantes added RBI's.
Hamilton 11, Pierce 0
The Bears (3-2, 1-2 SVL) allowed just six hits but four errors and five walks gave the Braves too many opportunities on Tuesday.
Hamilton scored twice in the 1st inning, four times in the 2nd and five in the 4th.
Bradshaw Christian 2, Maxwell 0
Maxwell (4-2) traveled to Bradshaw Christian in Sacramento to play the undefeated Pride (7-0) on Wednesday and came away with a close 2-0 loss.
Trent Mathis collected Maxwell's only hit and Zach Troughton pitched four strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out three and walking one. Scott Wells allowed one run in two innings while striking out two.
Maxwell 8, Greenville 0
Maxwell 13, Greenville 1
The Panthers picked apart visiting Greenville in a doubleheader on Monday. Maxwell jumped out to big leads in the 1st inning of both games and pulled away.
Colusa County Basketball League results
The Hoosiers (3-0) remained undefeated after beating team SWAT (0-3) 63-45 on Sunday. The Aces (2-0) handed the Redskins (1-1) their first loss of the season 54-49.
The Bulls (2-1) removed the Gonuts (2-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten with a narrow 48-45 victory. The Knights (2-1) demolished the Royals (0-3) 66-28 and the La Fortuna Suns (2-1) edged the Savages (1-2) 49-45. Garrison's had a bye.
