Volleyball playoffs begin for area teams
A number of high school volleyball teams from the tri-county area have had their seasons extended by at least one game, as they qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Northern Section playoffs.
While the majority of teams play on Tuesday, some received first-round byes and are off until Nov. 13
Division IV
Willows (27-8, 11-1 SVL) is the No. 6 seed and hosts No. 11 Central Valley (9-15, 4-4 NAL) on Tuesday.
No. 8 Colusa (18-11, 9-1 MVL) hosts ninth-seeded Orland (17-17, 3-5 BVL) on Tuesday.
Division V
Top seed Hamilton (22-9, 11-1 SVL), No. 2 Los Molinos (33-7-1, 9-3 Five Star) and third-seed Pierce (15-10, 8-4 SVL all have byes in the first round.
Division VI
Mercy (26-10, 11-1 Five Star) is the top seed, and received a first-round bye along with second-seeded Princeton (21-8, 10-0 PVL).
Maxwell (14-3, 9-1 MVL) is the No. 6 seed, and hosts No. 11 Paradise Adventist (17-14-2, 7-3 PVL) on Tuesday.
