Durham upsets Redskins

After pulling off several upsets in last year’s postseason, the Colusa Redskins were the victims themselves on Tuesday in the second round of the Northern Section Division 3 playoffs.

No. 4 seed Durham took advance of 10 Redskin walks and three errors to defeat top-seeded Colusa 9-5 and advance to Saturday’s championship game against Hamilton at noon in Hamilton City.

“We outhit them 10-3, but we just had some critical errors at the wrong time,” said Colusa coach Mike West.

The Redskins led 4-3 in the sixth inning when Durham managed to tally four runs on an error, a pair of walks and three hits.

Colusa had defeated Durham twice during the regular season, winning 8-0 in the first league matchup and 8-7 in the second.

Colusa got a pair of hits from Jeremy Hernandez while Brandon Mitchell was 3-for-4 with a double.

The Redskins finish the season with a record of 20-7.
