All-League gridiron awards announced

They got down and dirty every Friday all season long, and some all the way through the playoffs and championship games. The California Interscholastic Federation is recognizing these exceptional season-long performances by announcing its all-league teams for football.

A total of 54 athletes and two coaches representing schools from the tri-county area received recognition, some earning Most Valuable Player or Coach of the Year status.

Pierce High's Andy Corona was named the co-offensive MVP in the Sacramento Valley League, along with Live Oak's Romario Acosta, and Bears coach Scott Burnum was named Coach of the Year. Receiving MVP accolades for his defensive prowess was Willows' Trevor Candelaria.

Hamilton's Brad Hall topped the Mid-Valley League list as its MVP, and Braves' head man Ryan Bentz was Coach of the Year.
